Melbourne Teacher's College Board

The indefatigable Lenore has pointed me to a link to the Melbourne Teacher's College Honour Boards, which also appear to be by Brooks Robinson, and include photographs.

The memorial consists of three windows and two tablets. The tablets appear to be opus sectile similar to Maffra's, with multiple sepia photographs inserted.

Thanks Lenore!

Hi Linda,

What I find interesting about the Teachers' memorial is that it has no religious iconography. The Maffra memorial has two swords representing crosses, but I suppose the Teachers would be standing by their creed that the 'pen is mightier than the sword' - and no swords or crosses for them. Your two nurses likewise have no religious symbols apart from the Red Cross on the VAD sleeve.
